Safety

Playa Caracol is a family oriented gated community with 24/7 security located in a safe town in the safest country of Latin America. The US Department of State gives Panama a low crime rating and Punta Chame is one of the safest areas due its size and location.

Public Transportation & Walkability

Punta Chame is the first beach town on the Pacific coast only 1-hour by car from Panama City. Once in Playa Caracol you won’t need to use your car, due to its size and the fact that everything you need is at your disposal. Residents prefer to walk, or use their bikes and ATVs. If you do decide to leave, it is close to other larger towns, among them Coronado which is well connected by the Pan-American highway with regular bus routes throughout the day.

Shopping & Groceries

Inside of Playa Caracol you will find the Tiendita Caracol. If you left something in the city, don’t worry! This convenience store has all the assortments that you may need, including ready-to-go meals. There is also a surf shop available where you can purchase everything you need for a day at the beach. This shop also offers surf lessons in case you decide to hit the waves.

In the nearby town of Coronado, only 15 minutes away, you can find several large chain supermarkets. Our favorite is Riba Smith where you will be able to find premium cut meats, fresh produce, deli counter, and international snacks. We also recommend Grand Deli Gourmet that offers a variety of liquors, wines, beers, charcuterie, breads and deli foods, among other delicious treats.

Just 15 minutes from Playa Caracol in Coronado there is the San Fernando Hospital & Clinic. This is the first private hospital in the area offering premier medical services, including radiology, clinical laboratory, specialist consultations, electrocardiogram, emergency room, and pharmacy.
